How to grow Basil

Ocimum basilicum or better known as Basil is a culinary herb which originates from India. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to grow Basil:

The first step is applicable only to growing Basil outdoor and it states that you should be aware if the frost is over. The perfect climate for Basil is sunny days and temperatures between 10 °C (at night) and 21 °C (at day).  Before plating the Basil seed you should first test the soil pH for a perfect growth. The optimum pH varies from 5.5 to 6.5 .
If you decide to grow Basil indoors there are some facts that you should consider. First of all is the light and hydration which in outdoor space, the plant receives both naturally. We will cover the indoor and outdoor basil growing guides in a different article.
This step covers basicly the Basil seed care. In order to grow Basil, you will need a fine soil which should be kept moist and with no weeds. Germination period is around 7 days. Basil usually grows between 40 and 120 cm with big green leaves.

Growing basil
