An Un-Welcome Visitor?

Today I was inspecting my Kentucky Wonder Green Beans to see if there are any new pods or flowers developing. I was happy to see that there were a few, which got me excited about a nice Green Bean meal coming soon! Then I found a visitor on one of the vines. I am not sure what it is, but it is built like a grasshopper so I am going to assume that it eats just like one. Unknown Insect I just picked him off the plant and threw him over the fence (not the best pest prevention plan, I know, but I am not 100% sure it is even a pest). If you know what this insect is, please let me know! If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

    Looks like a Katy-did nymph. For the most part, katydids will eat leaves and some flowers but the amount of damage they do is fairly small! Don’t worry to much about them!

    @Mike,
    Thank you for the ID… I have been asking around and that seems to be the consensus. I guess I will just have to keep an eye out for katydid adults and see if they do any damage!

    Looks to me like the nymph of the leaf footed stink bug. A very destructive pest and hard to control. Ruins tomatoes and peppers. I’m told it destroys lima beans as well.
