Green Beans Nearing Harvest

I spent about an hour out in the garden today, in nearly 100 degree weather and found that my green beans are approaching harvest time! These beans are Kentucky Wonder Green Beans and from past experience I can say they are delicious!

While these beans do well in Central Florida their production does slow down dramatically during the heat of the summer. I planted them late in the season due to my job keeping me out of town during spring, but I am still happy to see any beans!

Once I have enough to harvest I will be snapping them, putting them in a crock pot with some water, fresh onions, fresh garlic and a little bit of salt. I let them cook on low for about 6-8 hours. This makes them so good they are almost the main course and not a side dish!
