Pickleworms – A Cucurbit Nightmare.

One of the most destructive pests to attack cucumbers and squash in zone 9 is the Pickleworm. This worm is the larva of a nocturnal moth that lays its eggs on the leaves of Cucurbit plants late at night.

Bugs of the Back Yard

I spent some time in the back yard today taking pictures, and needless to say, being in Central Florida there is an abundance of bugs. Some are good for the garden, some I am not sure of, and some could be bad. Most of these bugs were found on my Kentucky Wonder Green Beans and my Naval Orange tree. I am not sure what the top bugs or the one bellow them on the left are. There are hundreds of them and they just morphed from one form to another. There are tons of empty exoskeletons stuck to leaves. Here are 12 pictures!

An Un-Welcome Visitor?

Unknown Insect Today I was inspecting my Kentucky Wonder Green Beans to see if there are any new pods or flowers developing. I was happy to see that there were a few, which got me excited about a nice Green Bean meal coming soon! Then I found a visitor on one of the vines. I am not sure what it is, but it is built like a grasshopper so I am going to assume that it eats just like one.
